SPE= Storage Processor Enclosure
–Contains two dual Storage Processors and no drives

DPE= Disk Processor Enclosure
–Contains two dual Storage Processors
–up to (15) 2Gb FC Drives

DAE= Disk Array Enclosure
–Where the disks live

SPS= Standby Power Source
–Activated upon a power loss

RAID= Redundant Array of Independent Disks
GB= Refers to the number of Giga-Bytes. 1GB = 1,073,741,824 bytes
TB= Refers to the number of Tera-Bytes. 1TB = 1,099,511,627,776 which is about trillion bytes (each byte represents a single letter or single digit number)
PB = Petabyte is equal to 1,024 TB

CRU= Customer Replaceable Units, UltraScale customers will be able to do repairs at this level

FRU= Field Replaceable Unit, defective components can quickly replaced with no additional setup or configuration details needed.

FLARE-CLARiiON Operating Environment also called microcode

CACHE= High speed memory located on the storage controllers

FC= Fibre Channel

GLOBAL HOT SPARE= One or more disks that take over instantly when a drive fails preserving performance and data integrity

LUN = Logical Unit Number which is a collection of disks bound together and presented to a host
